Data Retention & Account Deletion

At smyat.ai, we believe personal data should only be kept for as long as it is genuinely needed.

This page explains how long we retain different types of information, how data is deleted, and how you can request deletion of your account and personal information.

Our Approach

We follow the principle of data minimization under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Whenever possible, information is automatically deleted once it is no longer required to provide the Service.

Authentication records	As required to maintain your account and comply with security obligations
Crash reports	Retained only for the period reasonably necessary to investigate technical issues
Product analytics	Retained only for the period reasonably necessary to improve the Service
Customer support communications	Retained only as long as necessary to respond to requests, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations

Retention periods may be extended where required by applicable law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Automatic Receipt Image Deletion

Receipt images are temporary.

Uploaded receipt images are automatically and permanently deleted no later than 7 days after upload.

Only the structured bill information required for the functionality of the Service may remain available until deleted by the user.

This significantly reduces long-term storage of potentially sensitive information.

Deleting Bills

Users may delete bills they have created.

Deleting a bill permanently removes the associated bill data from active use within the Service, except where limited retention is required for legal or security purposes.

Deleting Your Account

You may delete your smyat.ai account at any time.

If account deletion is available within the application, you can initiate the process directly from your account settings.

Alternatively, you may request deletion by contacting:

support@smyat.ai Please use the email address associated with your account whenever possible.

We may request additional information to verify your identity before processing deletion requests.

What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted

Once your deletion request has been completed:

your account will be permanently removed;
your personal profile information will be deleted;
your authentication credentials will be removed in accordance with our authentication provider's processes;
your remaining bills and associated personal data will be deleted unless retention is required by law;
active scan credits cannot be transferred to another account.

Certain technical logs or backup copies may temporarily remain as part of normal system operations but are automatically removed according to our backup and retention procedures.

If you signed in using Facebook Login, you may delete your smyat.ai account at any time using the methods described above.

Deleting your account removes the personal information associated with your use of smyat.ai, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.

the email address associated with your Facebook account (if available);
your smyat.ai account email address (if different);
any additional information that helps us identify your account.

We will process verified deletion requests without undue delay and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

access your personal data;
correct inaccurate information;
request deletion;
restrict processing;
object to certain processing;
receive a copy of your personal data;
withdraw consent where applicable.
